SGC Donates Clocktower Planter

Drizzly weather on Wednesday, August 24th didn’t stop the Simpsonville Garden Club from completing its mission.  The cloud cover actually provided the perfect conditions for filling a planter with both foliage and flowering plants.  Judy McGinty, the club’s Vice President, remarked: “Civic plantings are one of our club’s main goals.  We’re dedicated to providing beautification projects throughout Simpsonville.”

The Garden Club selected a specially designed planter for the project.  The Earth Planter holds 18 gallons of water which wicks up through the middle of the pot.  This reduces the need for watering to once every two to three weeks.

In order to fund its beautification projects, the Simpsonville Garden Club has recently published a cookbook containing over 230 recipes. Judy Wood, the club’s Civic Beautification Chairperson said the cookbooks are now on display and can be purchased at the following retailers in Simpsonville:   Bennet's and Sons Antiques, Carolina Olive Oil, Témondi Tea Café, Red Door Resale, and Vaughn's Feed & Seed. The cookbooks will make great holiday gifts.

Any individual or business owner who would like to contribute to the club's beautification of downtown Simpsonville projects may send donations to The Simpsonville Garden Club, PO Box 1764, Simpsonville, SC 29681 or call Judy Rogers, Club President, 864-329-1563.
